Tapeworm

A Musique Concrète piece that unveils the parallel auditory worlds of a human host and the tapeworm residing within. It is inspired by the Cantonese idiom “肚入面條蟲” (tummy worm), which means someone who knows your innermost thoughts. This idea is reimagined by creating a scenario where both entities share the same moment and sensation of hunger but exist in internal and external spaces, experiencing different sounds. Recordings were manipulated to create a composition that challenges conventional perceptions of sound and intimacy. By combining and alternating human cooking and dining sounds with the imagined auditory experience of the tapeworm, the audience is invited to perceive proximity, hidden sensations, and sounds with both acoustic and contrasting qualities.
