Mauvais Motor

The aim is to rediscover the beauty of basic visual elements. The name “Mauvais Motor” is inspirated by iconic movies from Leos Carax “Mauvais Sang” and “Holy Motors”. The artist employs two clips as footage, which both feature the uniquely physical performances of Denis Lavant, to create a new narrative. By training a machine learning model (UNet with VGG16 and batch normalization), he highlights the dynamics of light, shadow and rhythm. Lines pass from one clip to another, bridging the two videos. The dynamic interaction shows the unseen story of these two movies.
